For the December 2014
Virtual Paintout Bill Guffey chose Rome, Italy. Artists use Google Street View to look around and find a view they would like to paint in the month's specified city, or area. Anyone can join in and submit a painting to Bill who puts them on his blog and on Facebook. Rome was an exciting place and a challenge for me. I found it difficult to find a spot that didn't have many many cars blocking the view of what might be nice to paint. Of course I try to find something to paint that is a little reminiscent of the location. In Rome I could look from a blimp's-eye-view of a quaint-looking street, but then when I went to the street view it would be jammed with cars. There were also many interesting streets lined with walls. Not so picturesque. As always, I wished for more time to look around. Looking forward to next month!

Rome was so busy when I visited I can understand how the google photo taking car had trouble showing you much. Love the watercolour bridge scene Sherry
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorraine!
DeleteThat gorgeous striking blue called me over when I saw this as a thumbnail in Reader then the lovely yellow warmed my arrival when I got here. Fabulous use of colour. Great composition.
ReplyDeleteLove your visits and comments Laura!
DeleteSo cool! Who would think to make the street that brilliant blue? But it works so well, Sherry. Your gouache is really top notch. And the bridge is a lovely tranquil scene - you captured so well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Terry. In person the blue isn't so intense. I've tried a scan and photo to try to get it closer. Next month's VP is Philly!
Deleteinteresting concept - maybe i should give it a whirl
ReplyDeleteYou should! I just love looking around these places I'll never visit in person.
