Virtual Paintout - Tijuana!

I find the monthly Virtual Paintout is fun to participate in.  Bill Guffey choses the location from anywhere in the world that the Google Street View vehicles have covered.  I really enjoy seeing parts of the world that I'll never be able to visit.

For November 2016 Bill chose Tijuana, Mexico.  There is a spot I have visited briefly but that was a long long time ago.  I never did check what the street view offered of downtown Tijuana.  I looked along the coast and loved the many hilly inland neighborhoods.  I chose two colorful views to try in watercolor.

I have to add that while we were at the South Pasadena library painting the model who posed for us Something Different, the Google Street View car drove by.  I'll be checking to see how long it is until those images are posted.

  2. I also enjoy participating in the virtual paintout. I sought out your blog because your lovely rendering of both sites truly embodies the idea that anything and everything is beautiful if you have the vision.

  3. Sherry I just can't say enough about your Virtual Paintout paintings. The way interpret even the most mundane or not so pretty sites is amazing. It really inspires me to try it ..
Landscapes were never my 'thing' ... but I just read something about painting 'small' .. I think that's the clue I needed..
And then I see your wonderful paintings are NOT very large..
Thanks and keep on doin what your doin'

    1. Thank you so much! On plein air pieces I really can't finish something larger than 8x10 before the light changes or we're out of time. And for the VP, 5x7 seems fine to me for a quick couple views.

  4. Followed the link from VP - very nice work. I only did one - a department store called Parisina. I've never done such small paintings as you (5X7) and would like to try it

    1. Thank you for visiting my blog Tom. I really liked your TJ street scene. With the VP, the month end is coming and I want to try a quick couple views so 5x7 works fine for me.
