The Footbridge

It was nice to be back painting at the L.A. River last week.  The last time I painted at this particular location along the river was over a year ago.  I posted that watercolor in Casting at the River.  There are a lot of views for a possible painting at this location.  And the birds are always wonderful to watch.  On my previous visit, there was a photo shoot going on with a photographer and a fisherman/model in action.  This time there was a real fisherman trying his luck.  I didn't see him catch anything.  The morning was overcast and there weren't many fellow painters that day.  There is a footbridge across the river I hadn't painted before so I thought I would try a quick gouache piece.

  2. I'm really enjoying this painting Sherry, especially those electric blue bits which just really add zing. How do you get your painting to digital bits for our enjoyment, scan or photo? Your photos of the motif (as James Gurney calls the scene) really help us see what choices you made.

    1. Thank you Jody, so generous. Mostly, these pieces are small enough to fit on our scanner so that works. The gouache is really hard to get to look right online so sometimes a photo is better. Love James Gurney.

  3. Nice counter change of value and color to create the electric tower.

  4. I don't know if it's the gouache or just your exploration into stronger values, but what a difference this painting is over last year's. The hues and values are brilliant, and really capture my view and invite me to linger. Well done, Sherry.
